The Public Building Commission (PBC) announced today that for the fifth consecutive year, the PBC has been awarded the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) in recognition of outstanding accounting and financial reporting and management.
“We are proud that once again, our financial reporting has been is being recognized because it is the highest form of recognition that a government agency can receive,” said Erin Lavin Cabonargi, Executive Director of the Public Building Commission. “This acknowledges that the PBC’s financial and accounting practices and management are sound, transparent, and in keeping with the high standards of the GFOA and we are very pleased to accept this award.”
The GFOA announced the award on November 25, 2014 and it was presented to the PBC Board of Commissioners at its regular monthly meeting. The GFOA noted that the PBC’s submittal of its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) demonstrates that it is working in the “spirit of full disclosure.”
The PBC is committed to transparency in its financial reporting and all of its operations, and as part of that commitment, PBC issues quarterly reports that provide details on project costs and expenditures. The reports are brought before the PBC’s Board of Commissioners and posted online.
