The Public Building Commission of Chicago, after a vote by its Board of Commissioners, will take on four new campus park projects while also developing sustainable landscape guidelines for such parks citywide.

The decision to undertake these projects came during the Boards annual meeting, where the agenda also selected an architecture firm to oversee future firehouse projects.

With the Boards vote today, the PBC will create a design guideline for the development of sustainable landscapes at campus parks built in the City of Chicago. The PBC will also undertake the design of new campus parks at Kershaw Elementary School, 6450 S. Lowe Ave.; at Burley Elementary School, 1630 W. Barry Ave.; at Earle Elementary School, 6121 S. Hermitage Ave.; and at Mann Elementary School, 8050 S. Chappel Ave.

Today, the Board also approved the selection of the DLR Group to serve as the Design Architect for the fire station prototype to be utilized by the Chicago Fire Department.

The PBC manages construction and renovation projects for the City of Chicago and its other sister agencies. Mayor Richard M. Daley serves as the PBCs chairman. Additional information about the PBC and its projects is available at the agency’s Web site: www.pbcchicago.com
