Advertisement for Bids: Contract C1622 – Works Progress Administration (“WPA”) Street Reconstruction (Mason 56th Hoyne)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) has invited all Contractors to bid on PBC Contract C1622, Works Progress Administration (“WPA”) Street Reconstruction (N. Mason Ave, W. 56th Pl, S. Hoyne Ave).

The WPA Street Reconstruction (N Mason Ave, W 56th Pl, S Hoyne Ave) Project is located at:

  • N. Mason Ave – N. Mason Avenue from N. Mendota Avenue to W. Estes Avenue, Chicago, IL and W. Estes Avenue from Alley E. of N. Ionia Avenue to Dead End, Chicago, IL
  • W. 56th Place – W. 56th Place from S. Shields Avenue to Dead End, Chicago, IL
  • S. Hoyne Ave – S. Hoyne Avenue from W. 63rd Street to W. 62nd Street, Chicago, IL

The project consists of a Works Progress Administration (“WPA”) street reconstruction Project, including: full-depth pavement reconstruction of the three (3) locations indicated above. Work includes but is not limited to excavation, portland cement concrete base course, hot-mix asphalt surface course, sewer main and drainage structures, water main, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalks, brick pavers (N. Mason Ave. only), tactile/detectable warning surface system for curb ramps, concrete driveways and alleys, roadway lighting,  thermoplastic pavement marking, signs, topsoil, sodding, tree removal and planting.

Contractor will be required to prepare a Phasing and Logistics Plan within thirty (30) days of issuance of the Notice to Proceed (‘NTP’) for review and approval by CDOT and PBC, prior to the mobilization and commencement of any Work. The Contractor shall also be responsible for providing critical submittals, including electrical lighting (poles and luminaires), sewer and water main, and concrete mix design, as determined by the PBC, within thirty (30) days of issuance of the NTP.

PRE-BID ACTIVITIES:

On Monday, April 21, 2025, PBC will host a Non-Mandatory Virtual Pre-Bid Meeting at 11:00 a.m., and a Non-Mandatory Virtual Technical Review Meeting at 11:30 a.m. on ZOOM virtual meeting platform.

BID OPENING:

Sealed bids shall be received electronically by Dee Taylor, Contract Officer at: dee.taylor@cityofchicago.org and pbc-procurement@cityofchicago.org, by 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. A Public Bid Opening, streamed on the PBC YouTube channel, will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.
