Buddhists celebrate the birth, enlightenment and nirvana of the Sakyamuni Buddha with a ceremony of Bathing the Buddha to wash away the inner dirt of greed, anger and ignorance for purifying the mind and soul with Sutra Chanting.

Join in celebration of Asian American Heritage Month. Includes a speaking program with award ceremony and cultural program.

A Call to Rise explores the role of female identity through the medium of movement. Presented by the Knox College Dance Ensemble, the work presented has been created with the goal of honoring today’s modern woman.

Performance by the Edison Drummers, 4th – 6th grade students from Edison Regional Gifted Center. Creating original rhythm pieces drawing inspiration from Japanese, African and Caribbean drumming.

The Wreath Laying Ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza in Chicago. The parade will step off at 12 noon and proceed south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street.
