Arthur E. Canty Elementary School Annex and Renovation C1568

PBC Alert 15-015 The Public Building Commission of Chicago has invited the thirteen firms which have been pre-qualified to bid on Contract C1567 for the construction of a new 37,750 GSF, 2-story annex for Arthur E. Canty Elementary School located at 3740 North Panama Avenue, consisting of classrooms, K/Pre-K classrooms, admin office, computer/music classrooms, student dining and hybrid kitchen facilities and an elevator connecting to the existing school. Building construction is concrete and steel frame atop spread concrete footings with an exterior envelope of cold formed steel studs and masonry veneer. Site improvements are comprised of a new playground adjacent to an open field along with storm water management improvements. Renovation work will include utility disconnection and preparation for relocation of the 4-classroom modular buildings. In addition, renovations will include abatement and interior architectural renovations of the existing lunchroom into classroom space, fire alarm replacement along with mechanical and utility system tie-ins and upgrades. Construction will begin summer 2015 and be completed in July of 2016. Daley Center, 50 West Washington. Sub-contractors and suppliers are invited to attend to meet the pre-qualified contractors bidding on this project. After the pre-bid meeting, a list of firms attending will be added to the Web site ad. Sealed bids shall be received at the Public Building Commission, Richard J. Daley Center, 50 West Washington, Room 200, until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at which time they will be publicly opened.
