Two members of the Public Building Commission’s Board of Commissioners were reappointed to five-year terms at the PBC’s annual board meeting today, renewing their commitment to carry out the work of the PBC that benefits the many communities served by the agency.
Dr. Byron T. Brazier and Jose G. Maldonado Jr. were re-appointed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and were sworn in today for terms ending September 30, 2019.

Brazier, a board member since March 2011 currently serves as the head of the PBC Board’s Administrative Operations committee.  The pastor of the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago’s Woodlawn community, Brazier has long been active in his community and in a number of civic and community organizations across Chicago.

Maldonado was appointed to the PBC board in November 2013. He serves as the financial secretary of Carpenters Local 54. He is also a delegate of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters and the Chicago Federation of Labor. As part of his reappointment to the PBC board, he will also serve on the Administrative Operations Committee, which provides guidance to the commission with respect to the management and administration of the agency.

“The PBC is pleased and grateful that Dr. Brazier and Mr. Maldonado have agreed to donate their time and to provide their advice and counsel to the PBC for another term,” said PBC Executive Director Erin Lavin Cabonargi. “They each bring valuable knowledge, experience and insights to the board, which will help the PBC further the work it does to improve communities.”

Also at the board meeting today, the PBC released its 2013 Annual Report highlighting the 27 projects completed in 2013, including nine new capital projects and the School Improvement Program which delivered improvements and upgrades to 98 Chicago Public Schools.

These PBC projects helped to improve the quality of life for our residents by bringing dynamic, cross-purpose facilities to communities. The projects were completed on time and under budget thanks to the PBC commitment to cost-efficient project delivery methods.
