Jose Maldonado Jr. Sworn In As Newest Public Building Commission Board Member

Business Representative for Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Bring Expertise to PBC

Jose G. Maldonado Jr. was sworn in Tuesday as the newest member of the Public Building Commission board of commissioners.

Appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel last month, Maldonado, the business representative for the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, brings 12 years of experience in the business relations field along with experience in residential, commercial and industrial construction.

“I am honored that Mayor Emanuel has appointed me to the Public Building Commission board. The construction trades in Chicago have played an integral role in building our great city and I look forward to working closely with the PBC as we continue the work of constructing and improving public facilities that will make our communities stronger and better.”

Maldonado is a lifelong Chicagoan. A graduate of Chicago Public Schools, he received training from and worked his way through the ranks of the CRCC where he was elected financial secretary of Local 54 in 2010.

“Mr. Maldonado brings valuable experience and knowledge from the construction trades which will help the PBC further the work it does to improve our communities,” Mayor Emanuel said. “My administration is committed to providing people in every neighborhood with the highest quality and most effective services. I’m confident Mr. Maldonado will help the City achieve its goals.”

Erin Lavin Cabonargi, Executive Director of the Public Building Commission, welcomed Maldonado and expressed thanks for his commitment.  “I am confident that Mr. Maldonado’s years of experience with the construction trades will serve us well and provide valuable knowledge and perspective to our work,” Lavin Cabonargi said.

Maldonado’s term on the PBC board will run through September 30, 2014.
